From Cornwall, With Love

From First Holiday to Forever

Some love stories are built around grand gestures. Others begin with the smallest of treasures.

For Ian and Beth, it all started on their very first holiday together in Cornwall in early 2022. While exploring a beautifully deserted beach, which Ian describes as "our very own little bit of paradise", they spent the day collecting tiny keepsakes including smooth pebbles, delicate shells and pieces of sea glass washed ashore.

As they wandered along the shoreline, Beth casually mentioned that one day it would be wonderful if those special finds could somehow be incorporated into their wedding rings. Ian smiled, quietly tucked the idea away and said very little. As he later admitted, being "the quiet romantic type", he never forgot.

When the time came to search for the perfect engagement ring, nothing felt quite right. After returning to our website several times, Ian finally reached out with one question.

"Can you make my idea come to life?"

The answer, of course, was yes.

A ring that tells their story

Every material chosen for Beth's engagement ring represents a meaningful part of their journey together.

The ring's wooden core is crafted from willow, a choice with deep personal significance. Beth introduced Ian to the wonderful world of gardening, and one of his first successful attempts at propagating cuttings came from a willow tree growing in Beth's mum's garden.

That small success soon blossomed into something much bigger. Together, they made the brave decision to leave their previous careers in search of a happier lifestyle and started their own gardening business.

They named it Salix Garden Services, with Salix being the scientific name for willow.

With willow playing such an important role in both their personal lives and their business, there was never any doubt that it would become part of Beth's ring.

The inlay is just as meaningful, containing the shells, stones and sea glass collected from that unforgettable Cornish beach on their first holiday together. What began as a handful of beach treasures became a lasting reminder of where their story truly began.

Returning to where it all started

Ian had one final surprise in mind.

To celebrate their two-year anniversary on 13th November 2023, he planned a return trip to Cornwall. Together they revisited the very same beach where they had collected the materials that now sit within Beth's ring.

Standing once again in their own little piece of paradise, Ian got down on one knee and asked Beth to marry him.

We're delighted to say that Beth's answer was a very enthusiastic YES!

Crafted from memories

We feel incredibly privileged whenever we're invited to create a ring that tells a story as personal as Ian and Beth's. Their ring is much more than willow, shells and sea glass. It represents cherished memories, new beginnings, shared dreams and a promise for the future.

Congratulations, Ian and Beth. Thank you for trusting us to create such a meaningful part of your story. We wish you both every happiness in the adventures that lie ahead.
