It Began with Biology
We do miss the face-to-face fun of wedding fairs. Meeting couples who are looking for inspiration is such fun and helping them realise their dreams is just amazing!
We were lucky enough to meet the couple behind this masterpiece at an amazing event in Bristol a couple of years ago and we’re delighted we did! They hadn’t thought about creating a wooden or bespoke ring before meeting the team but were quickly inspired.
James and Katie met whilst studying Biology at Plymouth University back in 2008, but it took them 9 years to get together! Katie grew up in the New Forest and was a trained ecologist, and James grew up by the sea in Cornwall. After 3 blissful years together, James popped the big question on Heron Island in Australia and as a result of a big YES from Katie, our journey together began.
The sea is an integral part of James’ life and being able to put sand in his ring alongside a turquoise, tropical ocean-esque band of stone meant he ended up with the perfect blend of materials for him.
“I grew up in a small beach village in Cornwall, and briefly lived in Australia, on the Sunshine Coast, and these are my two favourite places on Earth. The sand itself is from my hometown on one side, and the lighter sand on the other is from the Barrier Reef where my wife and I got engaged! Not only is the ring perfectly reflective of my personality, but it also contains materials from the actual places that are meaningful to us too.”
James and Katie were finally married in the New Forest (with generous helpings of ‘beach and surf’ related themes), in Sept 2021, 13 years after meeting! We’re delighted to report that it all went without a hitch and was “perfect in every way!”
As is always the case, we’re thrilled to have been part of such a precious process and wish you both all the best as Mr & Mrs Gabb!
